Our mission is to preserve family history. We do this through preserving photographs and documents that are important to families and using a multi-tiered approach to preservation, not a simple conversion to modern image formats. Our desire is to treat your family’s past as a vital and a key piece to our community, specifically within the Miami Valley.

We come from a background of museum preservation, in archives, in collections, in databases, and exhibits. We have worked in institutions local to Dayton and the Miami Valley of Ohio, and we firmly believe that local history is the most vulnerable to loss and therefore the most valuable to preserve.
Preservation of family and community history is one of the hardest aspects of history to preserve though. By this we mean museums and archives are unable to preserve collections that are not being donated to the museum, whether a person has their family letters and photographs or they are a private collector. There is, of course, a reason for this. First, most of these institutions are short staffed, overworked, and underfunded to begin with. Second, staff cannot devote resources to anything that is not being donated to the museum. So, at best they can give pointers, tell you from which websites you should buy supplies, and if they have time to freelance outside of work, they might be able to do the work on their own.
Filling that gap is the goal of Glories Past, we aim to provide professional preservation services to families and community organizations who need their collections of photographs, documents, and objects preserved, documented, and as much as possible protected from permanent loss. This is YOUR history, this is OUR history, and if it is lost, it is gone forever, that is what we work to prevent.
